I chose to use the Swallowtail stamp set two different ways. The card below has been masked off with just the square in the middle to be stamped and colored. I've cased this card from the Stampin Schach. I've changed it up a bit with different colors and a different sentiment. My coloring was done with a blender pen and ink pads - the pads were squished in the middle to leave ink on the inside of the lid and picked up with a blender pen. The sentiment is from the Six-Sided Sampler stamp set.
The next card also uses the Swallowtail. I was inspired by this card on Pinterest. The Swallowtail was embossed with VersaMark and black embossing powder. This time I colored it with our new Blendabilities, Can you tell that the colors are more vibrant in this version? I then fussy cut him out and placed him on my whisper white card using dimensionals. I've wrapped him around to the back side of the card as well. A little bit of his wing was trimmed off to fit on the card where I wanted him. The sentiment is from one of my favorite new stamp sets in this catalog - Choose Happiness - I have the clear mount version and was able to curve it ever so slightly to follow the curve of the swallowtail's wing. Popping him up on dimensionals really makes him stand out. I love how it turned out and hope you do too.
And now for the blog candy...please leave me a comment and tell me which card is your favorite. I'll choose a random recipient to win a pack of Basic Rhinestone Jewels AND a pack of Stampin Dimensionals. I'll announce the winner on Friday, July 25. So be sure to check back.

I love your cards - can't decide which one I like the best! Thanks for the chance to win!
ReplyDeletewow Denise both cards are lovely but I'm really drawn to the blendabilities one, I love the vivid colors that the makers provide
ReplyDeleteBeautiful Butterflies! Thanks for the chance to win some candy :) Andrea H
ReplyDeleteI love both of them, at first I liked the wrap-around one best. BUT then I studied the other some more. I think I might like the first one best. I like how you masked, showing only part of the butterfly, but the detail I like most is how there isn't a sharp 'edge', more of a fading away on the outside of the butterfly. Beautiful work!
ReplyDeleteWow! Beautiful cards, love them both too!! Great colors and fabulous designs. :)
ReplyDeleteI loved them both but the wrap around is so different and unusual and the colors are very vibrant!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful coloring for this Swallowtail. Kay V

ReplyDeleteBeautiful cards ! But I think my favorite is the second wrap around card
I like the way that you colored both of your cards. Wrapping the Swallowtail to the back side of the card was a really fun idea! I'm inspired to try some Swallowtail cards for myself!
ReplyDeleteI love both of these cards and found it difficult to decide. But in the end I have to pick the masked one because of it's simplicity. Both are unique and beautiful (love the wraparound idea!) but I have this stamp will most likely CASE the masked one today! Thanks so much for sharing!

ReplyDeleteAlthough both cards are so vibrant and beautiful, I like the second one best where the butterfly continues on the back. I'll have to CASE that one. Thanks for the opportunity to win some blog candy.
ReplyDeleteYou might want to make another masked butterfly then frame it. What a beautiful gift that would make.a Thank you for sharing the two coloring techniques.
